Why venture into healthcare?

If you’re reading this (i.e., are a sentient being), chances are you’ve had a negative healthcare experience — whether you have waited months for an appointment date or hours in a doctor’s waiting room, gotten a confusing or surprise bill, or struggled to access the care you or your loved ones need.

I moved from management consulting to working in health systems and start-ups because I wanted to understand why healthcare so often fails modern consumers — that is, all of us. And then I became a healthcare investor to better understand the business incentives that underpin the whole system.

These are my thoughts on where we are, how we’ve gotten here, and where we’re going in U.S. healthcare.
